Luke 10:17-20
The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”  He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.  However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Reflection
After the disciples returned from fulfilling their mission Jesus continued to teach them.  He allowed them to rejoice in the results of their efforts and shared in their joy.  Then Jesus continued to teach them by pointing them to the true joy of their discipleship.  Their joy should not be just centered on the power and results that come from Jesus’ ministry, but the fact they are saved and their names are written in heaven.  All the way through, from start to finish, Jesus gives them supervision and teaches them how to live for him and how to share his message with others.

How should we do supervision and teaching differently as we make and develop new disciples?
