Ephesians 4:7, 11-13

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it…  It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

For the past three weeks we have been looking at the characteristics of each of the five ministry roles.  During these weeks, instead of having a devotional each day we have been looking at the characteristics of the ministry role that we have investigated that particular week.  There are also some reflection questions to help us think about that particular ministry role.  I encourage you to think about each of these characteristics and jot down some notes on your reflection.  This process can help each of us determine what our ministry role is and how to use it in the ministry of the church.

Evangelists enjoy discussion and sharing their point of view.  Wherever they go, they seem to draw others into discussion about Jesus.

When you talk with others do you find yourself finding ways to bring Jesus into the conversation?

Evangelists know the Word and can make it relevant to non-Christians.

Do you know the Word of God? 

Do you spend time in God’s Word? 

Are you able to take biblical concepts and make them understandable to those who have yet to make the decision to follow Christ?

Evangelists are people that other people are drawn to and somehow they make each person feel like he or she is the only person that matters.

Do people seem to be drawn to you? 

Do you have the ability to make people feel good about themselves?

Evangelists love spending time with non-Christians and often remind other Christians that non-Christians are out there in the world.

Are you drawn to people who haven’t yet discovered the love of Christ? 

Are you aware of those who haven’t come to Jesus yet and do you remind other Christians that those people are all around us?
