1 Samuel 3:8-10
A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.  The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Reflection
Today’s passage is a continuation from Monday and goes beyond hearing a call to responding to a call. In this scripture, Eli helps Samuel realize that God is calling him and directs him how to respond. One way that God speaks to us today is through the encouraging and insightful words of others. They see something in us, something God has gifted us for, something we had not even recognized in ourselves.

Have others shared insights of how God is using – or could be using – you?  How did you respond?

Have you seen those gifts in others? Have you shared those thoughts with them?
