“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you.”
Reflection
When we nurture a strong relationship with Jesus and we remain in his love and grace, he gives us a wonderful and astounding promise. Jesus says that if we are strongly connected to him that whatever we ask in his name will be given to us. Some people don’t believe this because they ask for things and then they don’t receive what they have asked for.
Here is the key: If we are strongly connected to Jesus we will not ask for just anything. We will only ask for those things that we are sure would be in the will of Jesus. What would fall under the category of being in the will of Jesus? What falls under the will of Jesus would be anything that would help us grow closer to Jesus and be more fruitful for him. If we are in the vine those are the kinds of things we will desire and those will be the kinds of things we will ask for.
Do you see Jesus as the source of all you need to live the Spirit filled life or as a genie that will grant all your wishes?
Reflect on the difference between wanting the power of Jesus to live for him and wanting the power of Jesus for our personal gain.
