Colossians 1:15-16
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

Reflection

In Colossians Jesus is described in such a way that it causes us either to discount the words of scripture or to fall on our faces and declare with every fiber of our being that Jesus is Lord.

These words are very clear.  There is no explaining them away.  Jesus is the physical, fleshly image of God.  Jesus existed with God and like God had no beginning.  Jesus is the Word and through the Word all things were created.  Jesus is the source of creation and the reason for creation.  Each of us belongs to Jesus whether we recognize it or not.

What do you think about Jesus being the image of the God we do not see?

Have you seen Jesus as the source of all creation?

How does this help to reinforce your commitment to live with Jesus as the Lord of your life?
