Disciple-Making

Acts 2:36-47
The second element of apostolic genius (the elements that made the early church so successful) is disciple-making.  Disciple-making is the second most important element in helping the church to become a dynamic movement rather than a stagnant institution.

Why is disciple-making so important?  It is so important because it is the only command that Jesus gave the church.  We are to make disciples of all nations and teach them to obey all that Jesus taught us.  The second reason that disciple-making is so important is that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing that a person can have in all of life.

To be a disciple of Jesus means that we are forgiven and a part of God’s family.  It means that we are being transformed and that we are being made into the image of Jesus.  After the church makes sure that Jesus is the center of all it does and lives with Jesus as Lord, then there is nothing more important for the church to do than to make disciples of the one we call Lord and Savior.

If the church is focused on accomplishing anything else other than making and developing disciples, then we have missed the true mission that Christ has given the church.
