Colossians 1:17-18
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Reflection
Colossians gives us a very high view of Jesus.  Jesus is first in all creation.  So, therefore, Jesus must be the Lord of our lives and take first place.  All creation has its being and holds together because of Jesus.  Jesus is the cosmic glue of the universe.  If that is true then there is no doubt that Jesus deserves to be the Lord of each of our lives.

Jesus is also the center of and the head of the church.  Why?  Because Jesus is the one who conquered sin and death through his resurrection and he deserves to be supreme in the church and in all creation.  If we believe all of this then there can be no hedging about Jesus’ right to be the Lord of our lives.

How does Jesus become the ingredient that holds your life together?

Jesus cannot hold everything together in our lives if he is not our Lord.   How would recognizing and living with Jesus as Lord make a difference in the order and direction of our lives?
