John 13:1-5
It was just before the Passover Feast.  Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father.  Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.  The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.  Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.  After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Reflection
Jesus showed how much he loved his disciples by taking the role of a servant and washing their feet.  Jesus, the Son of God, was not above performing the lowliest acts of service.  Jesus loved others that much.

If we are to be successful in making disciples for Jesus Christ then we have to learn from Jesus’ example.  Jesus imparted his love to us.  In turn we need to impart the love that Jesus has placed in our hearts to others.  How do we impart love to others?  We have to be willing to become the servant.  We need to show Jesus’ love by serving.  This is not easy because many times people are not easy to serve.  However, we need to put all of that aside and give of ourselves to others.  That is how we impart the love of Jesus to them.

How do you feel about becoming the servant in order to show the love of Jesus to others?
