God Calls His People

Genesis 12:1-3, Matthew 5:13-16, Romans 10:13-15,
2 Corinthians 3:1-3

This week we are going to explore what God calls his people to do and to be.

God’s chosen people started with Abram.  You might consider Abram another “Adam.”  With the first Adam the entire human race began.  With Abram, God’s chosen people began.  Abram, whose name would soon become Abraham was told by God to “go” to a new land.  In other words, God sent Abraham to a new land to create a nation of His people.  Through Abraham’s “seed,” God’s people would become a blessing to all nations.

Jesus was the “seed” of Abraham that was to be the key to the blessing of all nations. When Jesus came, He also sent His followers and told them that they were also to be a blessing to others.

Paul in his writings echoes the same message.

In short, followers of Jesus need to be “holy available” to others so that the good news of God’s saving grace can be spread throughout the world.
