James 1:14-17
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?  Can such faith save him?  Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to him, “God, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Reflection
If we share Jesus’ compassion on those who have yet to receive his love and grace, what should be our response?  It is one thing to recognize that there is a need to take the good news to people in the world.  It is another thing altogether to do something about it.  If we truly have compassion on those who don’t know Jesus and do nothing about it, then we have not truly had compassion on those individuals.  That’s what the passage from James is teaching us.  If we recognize a need but do nothing about it, then we are demonstrating that we truly don’t possess faith.

If we have compassion on those who don’t know Jesus what should be our response?
