Genesis 1:26a, 27a
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, … So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;
Reflection
Look back at Genesis 1:1-2 from yesterday’s reading and the verses for today. Already, in the very first book of the Bible, in the very first chapter of the first book, i.e., “in the beginning,” we already see hints of one God (we see references to God, capital “G” and singular) but we also see hints of three persons:
1) “…the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters”;
2) God’s Word is what created on each day (we learn in the New Testament that Jesus is associated with the Living Word of God);
3) God said to create mankind in “our image,” in “our likeness.”
Think about and write any questions or revelations you have when you think about our triune God: God the Father who goes BEFORE us; God the Son who is FOR us; God the Holy Spirit who is WITH us.
