Living the Truth...about God

Genesis 1-2, Exodus 34:6-7,
Romans 1-2, John 1
This week starts a time of learning about some of the core truths of Christianity.  This week specifically we are going to look at some passages from the Bible that will show us who God is.  At the same, we want to look at how that truth, that information should transform us. (Information is not the end; transformation is!)

You will hear several references to John Wesley in this sermon series.  John Wesley is the founder of the Methodist movement.  When he started what became this movement, he was not starting something new because of disagreement with the doctrine of the Anglican Church of which he was a priest.  He started what was known as the Methodist movement which became the Methodist church (not his intent) for the following reason: “to reform the nation, particularly the Church, and to spread scriptural holiness over the land.”  In other words, Wesley was concerned about people living the beliefs that they have.

So as we start today to learn the truth about God, let us learn to live our lives with that truth.

And the truth we will learn this week is that:
· There is one true God that exists in three persons (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit);
· God is perfect and all of His characteristics are in perfect balance;
· God wants a relationship with each of us and has been on a mission since before time to create and restore that relationship;
· Therefore, the one true God deserves to be center in our lives!
