Living the Truth...about Us

Genesis 1-2, Psalm 8:3-5, Genesis 3,
Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:1-3, Colossians 3:12-14

Last week, we learned about living the truth…about God.  One of the things we learned about God is that God created everything that ever was, is or ever will be.  This includes the fact that God created humanity – in other words, US!  So this week, we will learn about living the truth…about us.

God created humanity, male and female, in “their” image, in “their” likeness implying that we are created in the image of God, the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit).  In that image (that we call imago Dei, the image of God) we are given freedom of choice.

Created in God’s image, God wants to have a relationship with us.  We can choose to be in a favorable relationship with God as well as choosing to be in a favorable relationship with the rest of God’s creation.

We can choose to follow God’s direction or not.  Ever since the first humans, we have chosen NOT.

From last week, we know God is perfectly loving, gracious and forgiving but He does show wrath and pass judgement against sin.  Since we choose not to follow God’s direction, we are under that wrath and judgement.

But we will soon see how God’s plan from the beginning was to fix that!
