Ephesians 4:15-16
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Reflection
If our bodies did not have a head then we would be at a severe disadvantage.  In fact, life would not be possible.  The same thing is true for the church.  The church must have a head.  We are the body of the church and Christ is the head.  Jesus is the unifying factor that keeps the church together.

We are called to grow up into the head, Christ, so that we can become all that we are called to be.  In order to grow up into Christ we must be united in Christ and united with Christ.  If this happens then the church will work together in unity and accomplish its purpose in unity.
