Ephesians 4:1
As a prisoner for the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Reflection
Paul urges all Christians to live a life worthy of the calling we have received.  That’s easier said than done.  If we are honest we cannot be worthy of anything the Lord would give us or call us to because our human nature take us away from worthiness.  So, how can we be worthy of being included in the family of God?  How can we be worthy of being called the sons and daughters of God?  We can’t.  The only way we can be worthy is through Jesus.  As we are united with Jesus then we become worthy.  We don’t make ourselves worthy; Jesus grants us worthiness.
A popular contemporary praise song, “Lord I Need You” says this in the chorus in reference to Jesus:
“My one defense, my righteousness, O Lord How I need you.”  We are only worthy through Jesus not through our own power. Jesus is our only defense.  Jesus is our righteousness. Jesus is our all in all.  Our only hope is to seek to become one with Christ.
Spend some time reflecting on how you can grow closer to Jesus in unity.
