Jesus Reconciles

Luke 2:8-11
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:16-18
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

The entire point of Jesus coming into this world was to provide a way for each of us to be reconciled to God.  There is a great need for reconciliation.  We need to have our relationship with God restored through the salvation of Jesus.  We need to be reconciled to one another.  Also, we need reconciliation with all of creation.

The bottom line is that when we have reconciliation in all our relationships (including and most importantly our relationship with God) we experience healing that moves us toward the goal of wholeness.  Jesus wants to heal us and make us whole and he achieves that through reconciliation.
This week our daily devotionals will be focused on how the seasons of Advent and Christmas remind us and present to us the gift of reconciliation.
