Church as Organism not Institution


Acts 16:11-15, Acts 18:1-5
This week we are going to investigate how the church needs to function as an organism.  The church needs to be organic in its form and function.  What does that mean?  That means the church should be a grass-roots people movement.  People should be connecting with people and living life on life so that we disciple people into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  The church should be simple, flexible and adaptable.  When the church is organic in nature most of its time, energy and resources can be focused on its mission which is to make disciples of Jesus.  When the church is institutionally focused, then it takes a considerable amount of time and energy and resources to keep the institutional structure up and running, and that takes time away from the main purpose and direction of the church.
