Luke 9:21-23 (ESV)
21 And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the
elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

 Reflection
Today we will continue to look at Luke 9:23. Yesterday, we started with the understanding that Jesus’ call is open to anyone. The next phrase Jesus uses is “ would come after me.” In context this phrase comes as a challenge with the call starting with the statement “If anyone.” So “if anyone would come after...” sets into motion where our sermon series comes from. Jesus has opened the way for everyone to follow, but that does not mean that His way is easy. As we read further back into the context of this verse, we see that following Jesus could ultimately lead to the path He took which was to lose his life. With that in mind, what is the advantage of following Jesus?
