Matthew 6:24
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be
devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Reflection
Our scripture today reminds us that to be a follower of Christ we cannot serve two masters (whatever they are.) This means we need to have a singular devotion. Read this phrase written by the 19th century evangelist George Müller who captured the
spirit of slavery to Christ beautifully when he wrote:
“There was a day when I died, utterly died, died to George Müller and his opinions, preferences, tastes and will; died to the world, its approval or censure; died to the approval or blame of even my brethren and friends; and since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God”
What does this mean to you and what would singular devotion look like in your life?
