Matthew 1:23 (NLT)
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!  She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”

Reflection

The words from Matthew today are words the angel said to Joseph after he had found out that his wife-to-be, Mary was pregnant and he wasn’t the father.  The angel tells Joseph “not to be afraid.”  The baby to be born is from God, conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit.  This is to fulfill what the prophet said – “the virgin will conceive a child … and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”

After that short talk with the angel, Joseph did what the Lord had commanded.  The angel had accomplished his task – he reassured Joseph to the point that Joseph was ready to do what the Lord had asked.

If you are facing a tough time or a hard decision and you know that God is with you, how would that change your actions or reactions?
