Philippians 4:11
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in whatever the circumstances.

Reflection
The Apostle Paul makes a great statement of trust in God.  He says that no matter what situation he finds himself he can be content.  In other words, Paul doesn’t focus on what he doesn’t have or whether his life situation could be better.  Paul accepts the fact that whatever God provides in whatever situation he finds himself will be sufficient and he is satisfied with that situation.

So many times we can’t find contentment because we are yearning for something more than we have at the present time.  Let me give some examples:

· People are discontent thinking about the raise they didn’t get.
· People are discontent thinking about the new computer they want to buy.
· People are discontent thinking about a new car or a new house that seems out of reach.
· People are discontent thinking about the neighbor’s new raise, new computer, new car, or new house.

Maybe you recognize these feelings of discontent in your own life?  We need to develop an attitude of contentment by being satisfied with our situation, whatever it might be at the present time.

Can you bring yourself to be content no matter what the circumstances?
