Mark 1:16-17
As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Reflection
The practice of association always begins with an invitation.  Jesus invited his disciples to come and follow him and spend time with him.  Jesus invited them to learn from him.  That’s what it means to disciple through association and Jesus practiced it to perfection.

You and I are called to make disciples.  That is the one mission Jesus gave to each of us.  We would do well to follow Jesus example and disciple by association.  However, that cannot happen until you first invite someone to join you in the journey of becoming a disciple of Jesus.  When you give the invitation for someone to join you in this process you have taken the first step.  However, the relationship cannot start until you initiate that relationship.

Have you invited someone along with you on your journey of discipleship?  Are you associating with them and investing your time in them?

If you have not invited anyone to join you on the journey of discipleship what are your plans to do so?
