Matthew 8:13
Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go!  It will be done just as you believed it would.”  And his servant was healed at that very hour.

Reflection
I once had someone say to me that when we get to heaven we will probably be shocked at who is there that we didn’t think would be there.  I have also heard we will be equally shocked at who isn’t there that we were absolutely sure would be there.  Who would have thought that Jesus would find the greatest faith in all of Israel in the life of a Roman centurion?  God will shock us again and again as he chooses to work through and lift up the most unlikely.
The difference between the centurion’s faith and the Jewish leader’s and ruler’s faith is that the centurion possessed humble faith.  Consider this question: Is our faith a faith that is rooted in humility or in pride?
