Colossians 1:9-14
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the
dominion of darkness and brought us into the
kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

A Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.

Reflection
In verse 10 , Paul prays that we might “live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way…” At our church this is why we ask everyone to follow our discipleship process of Connect , Grow, Serve, and Give. In this prayer from Paul as well as the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi there are a lot of
connections to our Connect Grow Serve Give. Reread both and write what verse you think match up with Connect Grow Serve in your life.
