Ephesians 3:10-11
His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection
Paul tells us that God’s intent is for the wisdom of God in Jesus Christ be made known on the earth and in the heavens. In other words the good news of Jesus Christ should be spread throughout all creation. How should this good news be spread to all people? Paul says that God intends for the message of Christ to be spread through the church. When Paul refers to the church he is not referring to an institutional entity. When Paul says the word “church” he is making reference to all believers in Jesus Christ. The task of taking the gospel to the world is not just the responsibility of a professional class of Christian such as clergy or church staff it is the responsibility of every person who says they are a follower of Jesus.
