Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Reflection
God has given this standard on how we are to manage our finances.  We are to use our money in such a way so that we have enough to be generous.  As God gives to us then we should give back to God.  Then God will bless us even more and the pattern of receiving and giving will not be broken.

How can you accomplish more in the area of generosity and giving?

November 6-12

What Could We Accomplish?

This week during our daily devotions we are going to look at what more we can accomplish as we use our money according to God’s principles.  We are going to follow the same pattern as last week and we will be using various verses from throughout the Bible as the foundation for each devotion.

Saturday, November 5

Proverbs 22:7
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Reflection
When we borrow and go into debt then we become the servant of another.  When we are in debt we are not free to use our money the way we want to use it.  Debt is something that should be avoided and if we are in debt we should do what we can to pay what we owe and get out of debt.

If you have made the commitment to pay off your debt and you are in the process of doing, so then celebrate that step toward financial peace.

Proverbs 19:17
He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done.

Reflection
Once we learn to manage our money according to God’s word and we follow the principles that we have learned during this sermon series, then we need to take some of the extra that we have and help others who do not have enough.  As we give to those who are poor it is as if we are giving to the Lord.  Giving to the poor is another way that we honor God for the blessings he has given to us.

If you are able to help those who are less fortunate, then celebrate the fact that you have learned that your money is not just for your use but to do good and help others, as well.

Thursday, November 3

Proverbs 11:28
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Reflection
Managing our money according to God’s principles is very important.  However, money should never be the point.  Money will not provide a meaningful life for us.  A relationship with God through Jesus Christ will provide a meaningful life for us.  Money is only a tool that helps us to live the life that God is calling us to live.  The point of life is not getting and accumulating money; the point of life is knowing and serving God.

If you have learned what is truly important in life and you have relegated money to the appropriate place in your life, as a tool to live life, then celebrate that growth in your life.

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!  It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

Reflection
This proverb tells us that the ant is wise because it is diligent and works hard and provides for the future.  The ant gathers food and stores it in the summer for a time when food is scarce.  The ant knows how valuable it is to save.  Have we learned how valuable it is to save?  Have we started putting away a little each time we get paid so that we will have something when resources are scarce?

If you have started to save and you are building a fund to meet those emergencies that might come up, then celebrate what you have accomplished.  This is another way by which you are viewing and using your money according to God’s Word.

Tuesday, November 1

Proverbs 3:9
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Reflection
When we realize that God owns everything and it all comes from him then we will want to give back to the Lord.  Giving back to the Lord is the principle of first fruits.  The Bible tells us that we should give the first 10% of all that the Lord gives us (that means our income) back to the Lord.  The scripture tells us that as the Lord gives to us then we should give back to the Lord.

The question is this:  Do we believe it is important to give back to God?  If you have started giving back to the Lord or if you have continued the practices of giving back to the Lord then celebrate that fact.  If you haven’t started giving back to God then consider giving a percentage, like 2 or 3%, and then build up to 10% from there.  If you make the decision to do that then celebrate that step toward using your money the way God wants you to.
